Writing: Plastic in our environment

Plastic in our environment

The impact of our plastic in our environment is atrocious. Scientists believe that in 2050, there will be
more plastic than fish in our oceans. You need to understand that our oceans are not dumpsters where
you dump anything you want. The plastic has created a tremendous and disgusting outcome on our
environment and oceans. We must encourage people to put their rubbish in the right bin and to not litter.

Families can create a litter free lunch box by using reusable plastic containers instead of glad wrap,
tin foil, etc. I vehemently believe that if we reduce our plastic and take control of this appalling situation,
then we can become a litter free school, the oceans wouldn’t be packed with plastic, and we would
still be able to have the fish swimming around like normal fish do.

Another very serious point I want to make is about our animals. Some of our animals are getting
endangered by some of this plastic. As many birds such as seagulls live around the beaches, they are
getting caught, suffocated, and choked by plastic bags. This causes them severe injury and for some,
they die. It seems many people in this world don’t care about our environment or our animals.

Instead, most people take everything that we have for granted. So let me tell you this. All the devices
you might have, the school trips we get given, and even maybe all the accessories you might have,
these things, are privileges not rights. These are the things people choose to give us. We also have a
choice to reduce plastic and put our plastic in the right bin. To me, it seems people are just too lazy
to get up and do one simple and easy job.

Here is something that I want to leave you thinking about. “If you care about our environment,
then what changes are you going to make?”
