On your blog, list the three people you would like to have on your Lake Taupo cycle race Support Crew. Tell us why you have chosen each person.

If I were to do this race, I would take my older sister Ashley because she is very sporty and athletic, and I think considering she is very active, she would be a great motivation!

The second person I would take with me would be my dad because he's very encouraging and supporting in everything I do, and he taught my little sister how to ride a bike so he might be able to teach me a few skills.

The last person I would bring along with me would be my little sister, Alyssa. My little sister loves riding her bike all the time, and it's become her new favourite thing to do! I think if she came along she would really enjoy it and it would be a great experience for her!

One of my favourite summer activities to do is playing sport. One of the sports I like to play is volleyball.
I couldn’t find any photos of me by myself playing volleyball so here is a photo of me playing with my
school friends at a volleyball tournament. I like playing volleyball because it’s really fun and it’s a fun way
to stay active.

New Zealand is very different compared to other countries. One of the best things about New Zealand
is that we are one of the countries that has the lowest crime rate in the world! We have beautiful cities
such as Rotorua, Hamilton, Queenstown, Whakatane, and the most populated city- Auckland.
Auckland has glorious beaches spread across the city and it’s really beautiful to watch the sunset
and sunrise just sitting on the soft sand. The hot scorching weather is beautiful and there are so many
fun activities to explore and do that many countries don’t have. The SkyTower in the city is 24 years old
and is about 328 metres high. You can do bungee jumping off it, you can walk up on it, and do heaps of
cool things. We are well known for our famous native bird that is flightless, the Kiwi! We have many
native trees as well such as the Pohutukawa tree, Kauri tree, Kowhai tree, and also the famous plant
which is the New Zealand Fern. You may recognise it on NZ sports uniforms as well. We have so
many famous and delicious foods here such as Pavlova, hokey pokey ice-cream, Jaffas, fish and chips,
crayfish, and of course a Hangi which is very traditional for Maori and polynesian people.
Auckland, New Zealand is a beautiful place to be in!

Dear Mum and Dad,

I’m currently on my school trip in Tundra and it’s freezing here! The average temperature over here
is around -18 degrees. Did you know the word Tundra comes from a Finnish word tunturi, which means
treeless plain or barren land? Thats explains why there's hardly any trees here compared to back at
home in New Zealand! If you’re wondering where abouts is Tundra, it’s located at the top of the world
near the North Pole. Despite how cold it is, It’s been great fun over here especially since i’m with my
friends. Earlier today me and my class just stayed indoors because it was too cold for any of us to go
outside. Tomorrow we are going to go and try look for some animals to take photos and do some cool
writing about them. I can’t wait to come back home!

Do you think logging should be allowed in New Zealand?

In my opinion I don't think logging should be allowed in New Zealand because every time the
trees are cut down, it’s damaging our environment and it ruins the animals habitat. Trees give
us oxygen to breathe from and yet people are just cutting them down! Although it might have a
good outcome of building new houses, most of the time houses these days are too expensive
for people even to buy it!

My favourite food: French toast

Ingredients you will need:

• Thick slices of bread (Brioche would be best but any kind is fine)
• 2 eggs
• ⅔ cup of milk
• ¼ teaspoon of ground cinnamon (Optional)
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• Salt to taste (A pinch)

Method to making your french toast:

Step 1:

Beat together the egg, milk, salt, chosen spices, and vanilla extract

Step 2:

Heat a lightly oiled griddle, skillet, or pan over medium- high heat

Step 3:

Dunk each slice of bread in your egg mixture, soaking both sides. Then, place the bread
in your pan and cook on both sides until golden. Once it is cooked, feel free to add any
toppings such as fruit, syrup, whipped cream, etc..

What does my beast look like?

My beast has a face of an owl, a body shaped as a crocodile, webbed feet like a goose,
it has wings like a bat, and claws as sharp as a knife. On my beasts crocodile like body, it is very scaly
and bumpy. It’s face has big black eyes, a pointy nose, and patterns across it’s skin. It’s webbed feet
is almost like a patch of spider webs, and it’s wings are black like the night.

What does my beast feel like?

My beasts skin is very rough and craggy when you touch it and it’s webbed feet is sharp and soft
at the same time. The pointy nose is like prickles on a cactus, and when you touch the crocodile body,
it feels like a hard rock. It’s bat wings are quite flexible like a rubber band and is very thin.

What does my beast smell like?

My beast smells very earthy and smells like dirt. My beast often goes around into forests so it smells
a lot like trees, leaves, and plants. My beast has a small scent of blood and this is because it goes
hunting for other animals.

Over one full year, how much water will you need to give your cactus plant?

My method to working this out was: There are 365 days in a year so I multiplied it with the 3 ml. My working out was algorithm as you can see I have carried numbers. My Answer: 1095 ml

Which of the three uniforms do you like best and why?

In general I think all three of the teams uniforms look great, but I think the best looking one would
be the Black ferns uniform. I think it looks the best because it’s very similar to the All blacks uniform
which is the men's team for rugby and so it makes sense to have the same uniform for the women.
Even though i’ve played netball in the past and i’ve worn the dress which is quite comfy,
i’m more of a t-shirt and shorts person.

Would you like to visit Tāne Mahuta one day, and why or why not?

I would love to visit Tāne Mahuta because this type of tree isn’t found anywhere else, and it would give
me an opportunity to learn something new and maybe even learn about some of the history of New Zealand.
I think it would also be cool to visit Tāne Mahuta because it would be a good experience to learn more
about NZ nature and even from looking at the picture, it looks stunning!

What is special about where you live/ your hometown?

I absolutely love Auckland because it has amazing scenery, beautiful rivers and beaches, and it has
stunning places to explore.The hot scorching weather gives Auckland a real summer vibe which is really nice,
and Auckland has fabolous places to visit that other countries don't have such as the Sky Tower,
the Auckland War Memorial Museum, M.O.T.A.T- to see the history of transport and technology,
Waitemata Harbour and heaps more! I’m really lucky and glad to call Auckland my hometown!

Dear Mr.Hadnett,

2 facts about the United Kingdom is,

• There are 4 countries in the UK which are, England,Wales,Scotland and the Northern Ireland.
• Another fact which is about England, is that it’s the birthplace of the famous poet Shakespeare, and is also the birthplace of the famous  English rock band, The Beatles.

While I am in the UK, I am planning to travel to Scotland but mainly England, as well as visiting London. I will most likely be travelling by train and possibly walking depending on how far away the destinations are.

2 reasons why I chose this country:

• Because 2 of my favourite movies such as the Harry Potter series, and the fantastic beasts series, were both filmed in England and it would be cool to check out the hogwarts castle which was featured in these movies.
• Another reason is because one day I would like to travel around Europe and the United Kingdom is one of the countries in Europe I have been planning on to visit.
