Summer learning journey- Activity 1: Towering timbers

Do you think logging should be allowed in New Zealand?

In my opinion I don't think logging should be allowed in New Zealand because every time the
trees are cut down, it’s damaging our environment and it ruins the animals habitat. Trees give
us oxygen to breathe from and yet people are just cutting them down! Although it might have a
good outcome of building new houses, most of the time houses these days are too expensive
for people even to buy it!

  1. Hey there AJ, it's Billy here again from the Summer Learning Journey team.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on logging in New Zealand and supporting your stance with a couple of reasons too. You make a valid point about houses being too expensive as well.

It's such a shame people cut down trees because they provide us with oxygen and clean air. They are also home to many different animals. Can you think of any?

Do you think that there is an alternative resource we could use to build houses instead of always using wood?

    Thanks, Billy.
