How fast can a marble roll?
Materials: 3 books (2 big and 1 small) 2 metre rulers and 4 30cm rulers.
How Did We Do The Experiment: We did this experiment by taping 2 metre rulers together and we sat it on top of 1 big book. Then we taped the 4 30cm rulers and rested it on 2 small books. After that we tested how far can it go and how fast.
We did it on carpet floor. The carpet floor is flat but we did it in a slope in downhill direction. By doing it downhill we rested the tip of our metre ruler on a chair so that our marble can go down. So we started doing these for few attempts.
Our Attempts with the small marble:
Attempt 1- 1.18 seconds
Attempt 2- 1.20 seconds
Attempt 3- 1.31 seconds
Attempt 4- 1.33 seconds
Attempt 5- 1.55 seconds
Our Attempts with the big marble:
Attempt 1- 2.04 seconds
Attempt 2- 2.01 seconds
Attempt 3- 2.31 seconds
Attempt 4- 2.04 seconds
Attempt5- 2.28 seconds
Highest Attempt for the small marble: Our highest Attempt for the small marble is Attempt 5. Attempt 5 has the score of 1.55 which is the highest.
Highest Attempt for the big marble: Our highest Attempt for the big marble is Attempt 3. Attempt 3 was the score of 2.31 which is the highest.
Highest Attempt out of small and big marble: The highest Attempt of all is Attempt 3 with the score of 2.31. This is the highest score from both marbles and this is the score from the big marble.
Conclusion for the big marble: We now know that Attempt 3 was the longest one to finish and Attempt 3 was from the big marble. Attempt 3 went down the whole way to the ending point and took 2.31 seconds. The Fastest from the big marble is Attempt 2 which is the score of 2.01 seconds.
Conclusion for the small marble: We now know that Attempt 5 took the longest with the score of 1.55 seconds. The fastest from the small marble is Attempt 1 with the score of 1.18 seconds.
