Lunar eclipse

Lunar Eclipse

On Saturday April the 4th, Sky gazers from different parts of the world are treated to the third of the four lunar eclipses that will occur (take place) before the end of 2015. At 4:58 am PST (Pacific standard time) the moon disappeared behind the earth’s shadow. By 5:03 am, it was all over. The eclipse is best reflected (able to be seen) from the Western United States, New Zealand, Eastern Australia and many more. Residents from Eastern North America, Western South America and Middle Asia could see the eclipse partially (only in parts). Though the rest of the world have to sit this one out (they didn't see it from there point of view).

The eclipse of the moon occurs when the earth gets in the way of the sun and moon. The moon does not emit (produce, discharge) any light because it simply reflects the light from the sun. Sometimes lunar eclipses are short because it passes through the upper part of the earth’s shadow. When our planet gets in between the two, shadow falls onto the moon, thus the lunar eclipse. For lunar eclipses to occur there has to be a full moon, the sun, earth and the moon has to be placed perfectly and aligned with the sun.
